WEC Summer I & II
From first-time Grand Prix wins to numerous tricolors and a new working student, MBS had a fantastic 2 weeks in WEC Ohio!
Kelly Soleau-Millar took home the win in the Welcome Stake and Grand Prix with M. Michael Meller’s Fire Fly during the first week of competition, as well as as 7th in the Welcome Stake and 5th in the Grand Prix during the second week.
Kelly also piloted QBS Equestrian LLC’s Doonaveeragh Balou to a 7th place finish in the Welcome Stake and 10th place finish in the Grand Prix week 1.
Bridge Brook Arms 5-year-old homebred Bit O’ Luck took a clean sweep of his age division jumping to first place in each of the classes!
Millar Brooke South’s Medium Green Pony, Lost Boy “Peter” was the Green Pony Champion with student Dakota Zehler. The duo were also 2nd in the Pony Derby two weeks in a row, as well as 2nd in the Pony Classic.
Holy Smokes “Tully” claimed Reserve Champion honors in the Green Pony division and placed 5th in the Pony Classic with Dakota Zehler during the first week. He kept up his winning streak during the second week, winning the Pony Derby and finishing Champion of his division! Tully is currently for sale and qualified for the Medium Green Pony division at this year’s USEF Pony Finals.
Renee Morgenstern and Field Day “Luis” claimed Champion honors two weeks in a row in the Opportunity 2’. The ever-so consistent pair has been champion at almost every show this summer!
Rachel Wilks and Farmer’s Proud HS took a highlight podium finish in the 1.20m Amateur Owner jumpers coming in 2nd place! The pair was very consistent, collecting top ribbons throughout the week!
Holly Schmitt and Snooptastic “Snoop” took only ribbon finishes during the first week, in the 1.10m Amateur Owner jumpers taking a 4th place finish and two 5th place finishes.
Cayden Hill then took over the ride on Snooptastic during the second week, finishing 2nd in the 1.25m speed class and 11th in the Future Prix! Thank you Holly for sharing your wonderful horse!
Cayden Hill also piloted Headwater Equestrian’s Quote Z to a reserve championship in the USHJA 2’9 during the second week of competition.
Kelsey Meyer and her wonderful mare Caja joined the team for the second week, laying down some strong rounds and ending the week with a win in the 1.15 Junior/Amateur Classic.
We also welcomed our new working student, Kimber Evers-Miles and her horse Corfitz who competed in the Medium and High Schooling jumpers, ending the second week with a highlight of a 2nd place finish in the 1.20m Open. We are very excited to see how this pair develops over the summer as part of Millar Brooke South.
Finally, we would like to congratulate Sarah Sturges and her team on their special win in the Future Prix on her homebred Labyrinth aka “Ziggy”!
